Wind tunnel testing is another milestone for Tevva's electric trucks

Adding an aero roof and panels to Commercial EVs improves the drag coefficient by almost 10%.

30th November, London: Tevva has proved its unwavering dedication to customers by being among Britain's first electric truck manufacturers to put its vehicles through rigorous wind tunnel testing.

Our engineers analyzed a scale model of the Tevva 7.5t battery electric truck (as the wind tunnel is built to handle vehicles smaller than an HGV) to see how it would interact with air as it carries out its duties in the real world.

The two-day session at HORIBA MIRA's facility in Nuneaton saw the 'truck' face winds of up to 80mph, with data collected on how airflow affects range and performance.

Our aerodynamic experts found that adding an aero roof and panels significantly improved the vehicle's drag coefficient by almost 10%, meaning it performed more efficiently with those additions to its configuration.

The wind tunnel testing findings will help Tevva collaborate more closely with customers to decide the best solution for their type of business.

Tevva's Lead Engineer for Aero and Thermal Attributes, Martin Chathanattu, said: "We tested more than 40 different configurations to understand the effects of additional components on our trucks to see where improvements can be made. They play a crucial role in terms of vehicle efficiency.

"We did the tests with and without a crucial part, the aero roof and associated panels, which can be included when a customer buys a Tevva truck. We were able to see the difference in performance and are now better able to provide key information on range and performance to customers."

Tevva's Sales and Aftersales Director, Phil Henrick, said the testing proved that Tevva is driven by the need to provide excellent customer service.

He added: "At Tevva, we go the extra mile to ensure our customers have vehicles that get the job done. Our drag coefficient finding is excellent news for businesses that want to save money in the long term. And being among the first electric truck manufacturers to carry out this testing shows just how focused Tevva is on the businesses who will use our technology."
